Welcome to The Waiting Room

Updated: Aug 14

So, you’re thinking about signing up for therapy because you’re over the constant anxiety or tired of feeling so down and depressed all the time. Maybe you’ve noticed everyone around you is talking about how therapy has been helping them, and you’ve decided it’s time to see what all the hype is about. Or you’ve scheduled your first appointment, and now all you can do is think about what comes next.

Maybe you’re worried you’ve made a big mistake.

The Waiting Room is a blog for the therapy curious—the people who are ready to dive into therapy but have at least one question and the therapy newbie who has taken their first few steps into the emotional wellness journey. In The Waiting Room, Victoria Miller, PhD., LPC-S, LMHC, discusses questions common for the therapy curious crowd. Dr. Miller leans into her nearly two decades of experience in the mental health field where she has worked as a case manager, school-based therapist, family resiliency specialist, outpatient and emergency services therapist, and an electronic health records (EHR) analyst. She’s also managed village-based therapy services, taught behavioral health aides, and owns and operates a thriving telehealth practice.

Dr. Miller answers questions to empower therapy curious individuals like yourself to invest in your well-being through therapy. In The Waiting Room, she will cover everything from diagnoses, therapeutic interventions, documentation, insurance, to some of the more difficult topics. For example, have you ever wondered what you should do if you run into your therapist in public? Perhaps you want to know how to fire your therapist so if this whole experience goes up in flames, you’ll know what to do. Don’t worry. You can talk about those things here.

Welcome to The Waiting Room.
