Why books?

An avid reader, I LOVE books! Fiction, non-fiction, memoirs, biographies, mysteries, self-help, and bedtime stories. I even read poetry, though I won't admit to understanding the deep(er) meanings behind it. Regardless, there is a lot we can learn from a good book. As a person-centered therapist, I let all my clients know that if there is book, article, TV show, song, etc. they think they might benefit from or that may help in their self-growth, to bring it to therapy. I'm happy to read along with them or tune in to the latest episode or version of a song. Quite often, I'll recommend a book (or three!) to clients. After some searching for a platform that supports local bookstores, I signed up to be an affiliate with bookshop.org, and thus, my virtual bookshelf was born. Happy reading. I look forward to your book recommendations...you never know, they just might make the Lillac Reads list! And, you never know which book might hold a clue that will help you in your healing journey...
